Debra Stauber started working at the Arc of Monroe in 1990 after graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Brockport.  As a Vocational Evaluator and Employment Specialist she was out in the community every day coaching people at their jobs, performing evaluations and assessments, and doing job development. Debra was recently promoted to Employment Specialist with Adult Project SEARCH. In her tenure Debra has moved between positions at the agency about which she says, “I look for opportunities to build new skill sets.” While learning new skills she still enjoys being out in the field and meeting new people. Ellen’s success after Adult Project SEARCH

Family Perspectives

Our daughter, Ellen, attended Adult Project Search.  Upon graduation she was hired by the Courtyard Marriott: Jeff Shutt and Ashley Fedunyszyn are her managers.  She, the Courtyard team, and her fabulous job coach Shannon have really worked together to make Ellen’s employment successful, for the hotel and for her. Ellen works hard at Courtyard 2 days a week (6 hour shifts) and typically comes home exhausted.  Recently Ellen came home from work and showed us her employee name pin with the “2 years” and a wonderful card from Jeff congratulating her on her work anniversary.  She is so proud and …

Rochester, NY – The Arc of Monroe, a not-for-profit organization supporting people with disabilities in Monroe County, has been awarded $215,000 in grants from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services to support the Arc of Monroe’s guardianship and recreation programs.
