Home Makeover Challenge – Past, Present and Future
The success of the 2019 Home Makeover Challenge is a perfect illustration of what happens when a need becomes an idea and the idea is matched with philanthropy. While the Home Makeover Challenge addressed many needs, the one need it could not address was the ability to have the people we support age in place. You heard how, recently, we swapped two of our homes to answer an immediate need for the aging residents of one of our homes and the need for more space for the residents of another of our homes. With more than half of our 29 homes being two story, we realize that, to accommodate our ever aging population, we now must pursue another option. We want the people we support to be able to comfortably age in place. Who wants to have to leave their home just because they can no longer navigate stairs? The future lies in building our own homes. Stay tuned for more updates on our Aging with Grace, Aging in Place initiative.
