Employment Specialist

Job Path employee celebrates 29 years

Staff Perspectives

Debra Stauber started working at the Arc of Monroe in 1990 after graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Brockport.  As a Vocational Evaluator and Employment Specialist she was out in the community every day coaching people at their jobs, performing evaluations and assessments, and doing job development. Debra was recently promoted to Employment Specialist with Adult Project SEARCH.

In her tenure Debra has moved between positions at the agency about which she says, “I look for opportunities to build new skill sets.” While learning new skills she still enjoys being out in the field and meeting new people.

Over the years she has been lucky to have incredible supervisors who she has learned a lot from.  Regarding her supervisors Debra explains, “I feel like they appreciate me.  Their doors are always open.  They are always offering help and support.  They make me feel good about what I do.”

Debra describes Job Path as a positive and nurturing environment with team building and fun incorporated into work-life.  “It’s like a family,” says Debra, “and we teach each other.”

Down the road, Debra still wants to grow and learn doing what she loves best in direct service.
