Topic: Self-Direction
The presenters will review self-direction and its components, and explain how to help a person or family connect to self-direction, as a care coordinator. Our presenter is Elizabeth “Liz” Grefrath, LMSW, Self-Direction Liaison, OPWDD. Also, Eileen Ormandy, LMSW 2, Self-Direction Liaison, OPWDD will also be joining Liz but in a supportive role.

Liz, a social worker at the Regional Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, helps connect people to customized services and supports through self-direction. Liz enjoys working with people of all ages, and began her career working in non-profit organizations supporting older adults. Eager to further her knowledge of community supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families, Liz joined the self-direction team in late 2017. Liz holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from SUNY Fredonia and a master’s degree in social work from Roberts Wesleyan College. In her free time, Liz enjoys being newly married, and doing assorted home improvement projects.
