Get Involved!

Consider this your Call To Action !  We are always partnering with our local businesses, schools, churches, and our community to help advance the work of our organization and better serve the people we support.  There are so many ways you can Get Involved to make a difference in the life of someone with an intellectual or developmental disability.  No act is to small when your heart and mind are in the right place.  We invite you to give back in whatever way you are comfortable and join the Arc in its mission to better serve the people we support.

Join us in the Community

The people we support are regularly out and about attending festivals, visiting local businesses, touring towns, and getting to know what their communities have to offer across the county and state. Visit our community events calendar to see what’s happening this month and where we’ll be!

Volunteer

Every year dozens of businesses and members of our community volunteer to help the Arc of Monroe.  From our day services, to residential locations, or activities in the community there is always a need for passionate volunteers who are interested in helping out.

Below is a list of a few volunteer projects:

  • Help teach individuals basic computer skills, like using e-mail, navigating the Internet and practice Word applications.
  • Assist with volunteer committees, such as the Day of Champions Golf Tournament and the Blues After D’Arc Social Event.
  • Being a mentor or friend at any of our agency homes or day programs. Spending time together on a common interest like a musical instrument, a sport or a craft (or even playing a game or socializing).

For more information on volunteering, contact Kim Lombardo at klombardo@arcmonroe.org or 672-2202.

Advocate

The Arc of Monroe continues to pave the way in the support of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We strive to build on the legacy that our founding families began, setting the standard and remaining the agency of choice for families and individuals in Monroe County. By joining forces with NYSARC (the New York State chapter of the Arc) and other organizations across New York, we have lobbied for budgetary increases for our direct support professionals and championed the #bFair2DirectCare Coalition campaign that addresses the critical living wage needs of our employees. We encourage the community to join us in support of our advocacy issues!
