Did you get a chance to take part in any of the Summer or Fall Fests happening around The Arc over the past few months? The fun kicked off with Summerfest at ArcWorks, then there was a medieval theme festival at Lambert/Community Connections. Fairport Day Services was full-on country western, while Community Arts Connection celebrated “Music Genres thru the Ages.” The fun kept coming as Ballantyne celebrated with a Halloween theme! It was a wonderful opportunity to live the agency’s core value of camaraderie. Both the individuals and their families, together with the entire staff and their families met, socialized and established rapport. The day was colorful and bright. Juneteenth It is the oldest known holiday that commemorates the end of slavery and celebrates the emancipation of African-Americans in the United States. It is celebrated on June 19th (the name is a combination of the words “June” and “nineteenth”) On June 19th, 1865, the Union Army landed in Galveston, Texas and informed enslaved people that the Civil War had ended and slavery had been abolished.
