Silver Lining

Our day service offerings give people opportunities to learn new skills, build lasting friendships and give back to their community. Arc Silver Lining is a retirement service for older active adults. This service offers a unique opportunity for people to gather and enjoy “senior life” in our community.

A Day Service for Older Adults

Arc Silver Lining provides an opportunity for older adults to be active in our community, choosing how they spend their days, making new friends, meeting for coffee, enjoying a favorite hobby, or learning a new one. Activities include participating in senior centers, fitness classes, volunteering, and visiting area attractions.

A Typical Day

Each day begins with people meeting at a community location, to look at their activity options and plan their own schedule for the day. Some may choose to attend a cooking class, where they decide on a menu and budget, shop for ingredients, and create the meal, while others may head to the ballpark for a doubleheader and lunch. Or, everyone might volunteer in the morning and then split up in the afternoon, with some choosing a movie and others attending a festival.

Community Exploration is a program devoted to enhancing the lives of individuals through community inclusion while Silver Lining offers opportunities for older active adults to learn new skills, build lasting friendships, and give back to their community. Each program is specialized to offer meaningful work and social opportunities to its enrolled people. These programs are modeled after a ‘program without walls’ and therefore participate in all daily activities in the community.
