Our Community Support Professionals (CSPs) patiently teach basic daily tasks such as housekeeping, handling money and transportation. CSPs model appropriate social etiquette and communication skills to those we support, and help develop their creative expression, and awareness of their physical and mental health. CSPs encourage independent thinking and demonstrate how to make good choices and decisions.

Community Habilitation is a community based program that supports people with individualized goals on becoming more independent both in their community and in their homes either by themselves or in a group setting. Community Support Specialists work in Community Habilitation.

"We’ll go grocery shopping, go buy sneakers, sometimes they have to go to the laundromat, so a lot of times it’s helping them with things that they need to do for t heir independent living. But more times than not, it’s out doing fun things that we get to do in the community. Probably the best part of my job is watching them develop relationships with one another… relationships just automatically happen. You’re the person who helps that come together. "

    Chris Triphahn, Community Habilitation Coordinator

"I’ve known Chris for a long time. He’s nice, he’s sweet, and we go out to places with him. We do everything together – go out for dinner, out for lunch."
