A: We offer comprehensive services for individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities and their families. These services include: Residential Services, Day Services, Employment Readiness Services, Supported Employment Services, Family Support Services, Life Planning Services, and Behavioral Support Services.

A: We provide services to eligible children in Community Residential Habilitation, Health Homes Care Management, and Cash Reimbursement programs. However, individuals must be 18 years old to live in our residences and a minimum of 21 years old to utilize our other programs and services.

 

A: Individuals must meet the eligibility requirements as outlined by The New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) in order to enroll in the programs and services offered at The Arc of Monroe County. To see if your family is eligible, contact Front Door at OPWDD 1-855-679-3335. Your family may be eligible for Health Homes Care Management provided by The Arc of Monroe. A: During your initial conversations with our Community Outreach Coordinator, you will be asked to provide background information regarding the skills, needs, and desires of the individual seeking services. We have a wealth of services to meet the needs of you and your family, and we’ll work cooperatively with the individual’s circle of support to ensure that the individual’s needs are met. If at any point the individual’s needs change, we will work cooperatively to explore alternatives.

A: No. We believe in educating families about the services we offer, so that individuals and their families are able to secure appropriate and beneficial services that meet their specific needs.

A: This varies from program to program. That’s why it’s important to contact our Community Outreach Coordinator at 585-672-2222 once you have identified a need for services, to learn about the availability of services.

A: The cost of services is funded for 99% of eligible individuals, through Medicaid, the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), Social Security, and other government resources. In the event that an individual is determined ineligible for funding, alternative forms of payment may be explored.

We practice collaboration to meet the needs of the individuals we serve. Recent collaborations include partnerships with Lifespan, The Urban League, The Alzheimer Association, and the Arts & Cultural Council of Greater Rochester. We also work closely with all Monroe County School Districts.
The Arc collaborates with area colleges such as Nazareth College, University of Rochester and Rochester Institute of Technology.

For over a decade, The Arc of Monroe and RIT College have maintained an educational collaborative, providing a week long collegiate experience for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

OPWDD (Office for People with Developmental Disabilities) coordinates services for people in New York who have developmental disabilities through a network of nonprofit agencies. The Arc of Monroe is one of the nonprofit agencies that OPWDD oversees.

Adult Career and Continuing Education Services -Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) provides a variety of employment related services for eligible students and adults with disabilities. Services focus on helping individuals to prepare for, obtain and sustain employment relative to their personal strengths and goals.
